Why Is Coconut Oil Better Than Other Oils?

Coconut oil is becoming more and more well known for its amazing health benefits, especially when compared to other oils. Read this article on how it trumps all others when it comes to cooking, beauty and health.

Health

If you are under the impression that canola or vegetable oil is the best thing to cook with, you need to do some serious research. These kinds of oils become oxidized when heated which is what causes heart disease – not saturated fat!

People are supposed to eat natural food and there’s nothing natural about chemically extracting fats from plants that don’t contain any fat to begin with. Coconut oil on the other hand is stable and won’t become damaged from being heated. In fact, if you have ever kept a jar of it you know that it hardens and melts with the weather and is fine to use in either form.

Switching to coconut oil can make vast improvements on your health such as:
• Improving insulin levels which means it can prevent you from getting diabetes.
• Preventing heart disease.
• Improving problems with Irritable bowel syndrome.
• Improving chronic fatigue.
• Increasing energy and concentration abilities.
• Losing fat around your waist area.

The many health benefits aside, your food will taste better with natural oil. You can use coconut oil in baking or even just when roasting your vegetables and they will taste delicious.

You can even eat this stuff raw and many people claim that a spoonful a day is a good way to lose weight. If you don’t want to eat it as is, try drinking it in your coffee in place of milk.

What About Olive Oil?

While olive oil will not cause the same health problems as vegetable oils, coconut oil is still superior because it can be heated to a much hotter level and has been proven to be more beneficial for weight loss. Olive oil does have its own health benefits but is better eaten uncooked, such as in salad dressing.

Looking At Other Cultures

The Tokelauans are the biggest consumers of saturated fat in the world and up to 50% of their calories come from coconuts. This culture has no cardiovascular disease or diabetes and they are all in excellent health.

Beauty

You might want to buy a jar for the kitchen and another for the bathroom. As well as being great to eat, coconut oil can be used in many other ways like as a hair treatment, skin treatment and even toothpaste. Seriously, try brushing your teeth with it and they will feel cleaner and look whiter within a week.

For people with sensitive skin, it can be used in place of deodorant (and you will smell tasty all day) and can also be a gentler way to remove makeup.

More Uses

The benefits of coconut oil do not end there. Here are some more things you can use it for:
• Preventing stretch marks during pregnancy.
• Diaper cream.
• Killing yeast infections.
• Reducing appearance of varicose veins.
• Healing sunburn faster.
• Shaving cream.
• Pimple cream.
• Rub inside nose to alleviate allergies.
• Rub just inside ears to remove ear wax.
• Relieve itching from rashes and chicken pox (can also be used on pet’s skin).
• Bug repellent.
• Rub on cuticles to help nails grow.
• Prevent dry elbows.

These are just some of the uses of coconut oil and once you begin using it you will find many more and you too will swear by it. Now you can bet your canola oil doesn’t do any of that!
