Calm Your Skin and Use Coconut Oil for Acne

Acne is not fun, not when you are a teenager and certainly not when you are an adult. Acne can cause acute discomfort, not to mention embarrassment, and it is important to treat it with something that will work. Before that happens, you need to understand why acne occurs in the first place:

Why Does Acne Occur?

Acne is non-discriminatory and anyone can fall foul of the troublesome condition. However, certain people are more prone to developing acne and a number of things factor in, including diet, stress and genetics. Acne can range from one small pimple, to a whole load of painful cysts and is caused by inflamed oil-glands. There are many types of treatment out there but most of them have harsh chemicals which can cause further problems for an already delicate, sensitive skin. There is, however, a natural product which can help tackle acne from a variety of approaches and this is Coconut Oil.

Why Use Coconut Oil for Acne?

Firstly, it is a natural substance that has tremendously powerful healing qualities and these help the body fight acne-producing bacteria. Not only does the Coconut Oil prevent bacteria from forming, it actually helps with the unsightly marks left by acne scars. Often, acne is excruciatingly painful, but when using Coconut Oil, the pain and discomfort will be dramatically reduced, thanks to the natural cooling properties of the oil. Another huge positive is that it doesn’t clog pores (another cause of acne), and the fact that it is also high in vitamin E means that Coconut Oil is the perfect solution to help win the battle against acne.

How Should Coconut Oil Be Used?

As mentioned, Coconut Oil is free of harsh chemicals, so it doesn’t dry out your skin like other specially marketed products, and it is therefore very kind to skin that needs a sensitive touch. Coconut Oil can be applied directly to the acne outbreak on the face (or any other acne prone spot) and this will soothe the red and sore areas. Continual use is recommended, because once the initial soreness has diminished, Coconut Oil can not only help prevent new scars from forming, but can minimise existing acne scars. As well as being administered externally, Coconut Oil can be taken internally. Doing this will counteract some of the problems that initiate acne outbreaks, such as speeding up you metabolism. This in turn stabilises your hormones, as it’s these hormones that notoriously play a huge part in causing acne in the first place.

How Quickly Does Coconut Oil Work?

One thing to be clear about is that using Coconut Oil for acne does not work over-night. At first, it might seem as though the Coconut Oil is worsening your acne, but this is because the oil draws impurities out so it will seem worse before it gets better. But, with regular use, you will usually see a vast improvement a week after starting to using the Coconut Oil, as long as it is used on a daily basis. The only negative about using Coconut Oil is that you will wish you’d discovered it much earlier!
